After writing my first song, someone told me about an event called FAWM; February Album Writing Month. Songwriters come together from all over the world and spend the month of February writing music and collaborating. The goal is to get 14 songs in 28 days, but even just a single song is better than nothing. The atmosphere in this event is just amazing. Everyone is so helpful and provides good critiques of your work. You can also listen to songs by others and give feedback. So far, it has been a great experience.
Time Moves Slowly was a hard one for me to write. I came up with the whole thing from scratch. Holy crap was that hard to do. I don’t know why, but I must have just been tired. I whipped out a quick version and went to bed. I hated the lyrics though. They didn’t make sense, they were too personal, they needed adjustment. So I spent my lunch hour at work re-writing them, and then recording a video. Here is what I ended up with:
When I got home that night, I recorded it, added some instrumentation, but for times sake, used my processor to generate the harmonies. Here’s how it sounded:
Just tonight, I finally got the chance to fix the harmonies. Plus, on recommendation by someone else, I extended the last line of the song.
I’m liking this one in the end. Could still use a little more of something, and a slightly better recording overall, but this will do for now.
