This was a set of lyrics, written by Kristi McKeever that jumped out at me right away. I immediately came up with a melody and sent it to her, asking if I could continue putting them to music. So far, comments have included comparisons to Brandi Carlile, the Indigo Girls, and Bonny Tyler. It’s been fun to have such a positive reception.

I do need to work on the guitar part a bit and a good transition into the bridge. But I really like this song and can see myself continuing to develop it over time.

Here are Kristi’s Lyrics:

How do you turn away
From your desires now
They’ve fueled you with hope
And replaced your doubts

How do you live your life
Without trusting a soul
I know there’s a story
You have not yet told

[ch]
Oh, I’m listening
Do you hear me
I’m listening
Please don’t fear me
Soon the moon will take its place
And dreams will fly if they can find a space
Oh, let the stories flow
Cuz I’m listening
I’m listening

Tomorrow will come by
With the sun and warm rays
And you’ll have a chance
To go or to stay

[ch]
Oh, I’m listening
Do you hear me
I’m listening
Please don’t fear me
Soon the moon will take its place
And dreams will fly if they can find a space
Oh, let the stories flow
Cuz I’m listening
I’m listening

[br]
We’re all just travelers
On a big round ball
It’d be nice to connect
On some level, that’s all

Repeat ch
