Early on in FAWM I had found a set of lyrics I was hoping to put music to, but nothing ever really came to me. Finally, the writer asked if I’d still consider it, and so I sat down and came up with something. I hated it. I sent it over saying as much and he took it and created something entirely different. However, he still wanted me to do the vocals. So, I worked with a rough line he had recorded and created a more streamlined melody for him and recorded it. I think it turned out nicely.
Here are the lyrics he wrote:
Intro
Verse:
Wooden wheels on cobblestones echo through the fog
Clatter by forgotten churchyards, stopping on the boulevard
As she opens up her pushcart, puts away the keys
Fragrance of enchanted blossoms rises in the breeze
Chorus:
“Flowers”, she cries, “Flowers
Roses win your true loves heart
Shooting Stars to light your day
Lilacs will send worries….. on their way
Magic in my bouquets
Verse 2:
From Amaranth to Iris, Marigold to Violets Blue
Flowers dressed in Maidenhair, …. sparkle in a silver dew
All throughout the day she tends them, shaping her displays
Greets the lovers and the sinners, helping each select bouquets
Chorus:
“Flowers”, she cries, “Flowers
Roses win your true loves heart
Shooting Stars to light your day
Lilacs will send worries….. on their way
Magic in my bouquets
Bridge:
Flowers for the unforgiven
Flowers for the lost and found
Flowers burning with your passion
Flowers quiet, …..flowers loud
Flowers to forget your troubles
Flowers for the dark of night
Flowers for the sad and lonely
Flowers ready to delight
Verse:
Shadows gather to surround her as she packs up for the day
Leaning on her squeaking trolley, pushes past the closed cafes
When she turns into a alley ….. Disappears from the arcade
Just her aching song and fragrance, linger, and then fade
